ALL THE WAYS YOU SCARE ME
A workshop presentation that played to sold out houses at The 36th Rhubarb Festival // Transgressions in Performance // Feb 11-22, 2015
Sofie and Sylvia are sisters. They are both early 30’s urbanites raised by left wing, amicably divorced parents. Sofie and Sylvia are waiting in a bar to meet their father, Richard, and his new girlfriend, Jess. Jess is a successful actor. Jess is also in her early 30’s. Richard met Jess during a play in which he played her father. Now they are in love. When Jess shows up, Richard isn’t there. So they wait.
ALL THE WAYS YOU SCARE ME starts as a fast paced feminist comedy and erupts into the mythic. It's an examination of family, addiction, and the haunting spirit of elektra hiding behind modern femininity.
