PARADIGM is a collaborative theatre company based in Toronto focused on developing and producing large-scale, Canadian, expressionist narratives in order to bring poetry, politics, and mystery to our stages. Our work is feminist, anti-imperial, queer, and sometimes impossible.

We work with artists who share a suspicious, possibly enraging, and passionate approach to theatrical form. Our evolving mandate is inspired by the following tenets:

  • to foster work that challenges the narratives of our times & engages in the socio-political impact of the stories we tell

  • to bring artists from different practices & backgrounds into collaboration together, with an emphasis on fostering cross-generational dialogue within our artistic practice and community

  • to create new development models for design-driven performance texts & to support our projects through to production stage

  • to partner with local & national companies who seek to bring theatre to non-traditional spaces & who believe story-telling is a vital part of our individual and collective history

  • to make work that delights, disturbs, confound, and enlivens us

PARADIGM is headed by artistic producer, Susanna Fournier. The company launched in 2013 to produce the world premiere of Stencilboy and Other Portraits (2014 Toronto Next Stage Festival) before going on to produce ALL THE WAYS YOU SCARE ME at Buddies in Bad Times 36th Rhubarb Festival in Febraury 2015).

PARADIGM has 4 upcoming projects in the works. Visit the playwriting section for a complete list of projects.
